Challenge & solution
IKEA needed better insights for designing upcoming seasonal solutions. They wanted to understand what content works, what people like, how they see the content, their struggles (especially during peak times like Christmas), and how to address these challenges for new launches. My role was to give the team insights into user behavior. I did this by using usability tests, analytics, and interviews – a mix of numbers and in-depth understanding.
"We’re always looking for new talents to help us on our way to come up with great solutions to people’s everyday problems.
After being introduced to Rikke, there were no hesitations that we were a match. Besides the obvious user centricity, Rikkes curious and positive attitude are great assets that also inspires the team she's working with.
Quite often there are hesitations when bringing on new designers that lack previous experience with our brand. But just a few days after Rikke joined a team, I was asked if they could continue to work with her in an upcoming project – “Rikke is really great!” was their words. And I 100% agree.

Finding insights to shape ideas
A glimpse into my involvement across various projects:

Project 1: Working with teams during brainstorming to identify user challenges in the current season. This helped create content that really matched what users needed. I looked at search trends and social media reactions from different markets.

Project 2: Testing the initial content designs with users to see how well the ideas came across.

Project 3: Using tools like Google Analytics and Content Square to gather data from IKEA.com. The goal was to see which parts of the website got attention and worked well, and which ones didn't.

Project 4: Doing interviews and analyzing them to find common themes. This set the direction for the next launch.
Project 5: Mapping out the user journey and making a prototype for the team to use during idea discussions.
